Echo360 Lecture Capture
Echo360 is an optional lecture‑capture platform that enables instructors to record in‑class presentations or create lecture recordings directly from their computers, providing students with on‑demand access for review and study.
Recordings can be easily shared with students through Canvas, and you maintain full control over when and how they are made available. You may publish recordings immediately, release them later in the semester, or restrict access to specific students as needed. Echo360 videos can also be embedded directly within Canvas for added convenience.
Beyond recording, Echo360 offers several optional features designed to support student engagement. Students can take notes, submit questions (if enabled), flag confusing content, and provide you with valuable viewing statistics. Additionally, you can integrate polling and response questions into the recordings, should you choose to do so. All of these features are entirely optional—Echo360 can be used simply as a recording tool if that is your preference.
Below are the available options for using Echo360:
- Echo360 Capture Device
Classrooms equipped with a dedicated Echo360 Capture Device allow recordings to be scheduled in advance. You may present using either the in-room computer/equipment or your personal device.

- Echo360 Universal Capture
Recordings can also be scheduled using Echo360 Universal Capture or you can start or stop a recording yourself. Please note that this setup is more limited than rooms with a dedicated capture device. In this configuration: Video and audio are captured using the rear-mounted camera or the webcam mounted on the computer monitor, and either the Jabra microphone on the AV cart or the wireless microphone stored in the black pouch at the teaching station.
Important: Universal Capture can only record the display of the computer on which it is installed—typically the in-room PC. If you plan to use your own laptop or tablet, you may choose one of the following options to ensure your presentation is recorded:
- Present directly from the podium PC.
- Install Echo360 Universal Capture: Personal on your personal laptop and record from that device. Note that this will use your laptop’s built‑in camera and microphone, and you will be responsible for manually starting and stopping the recording.
- Use Mirroring360 to mirror your device’s screen to the podium PC. Additional information is available here.
