We are a group of clinicians and trainees committed to making sure that all students have access to care regardless of their background, immigration status or how they identify. We feel a particular dedication to renouncing oppression in all it's forms. It is our goal to offer a safe and affirming environment so that all members of the campus community will feel welcome to seek our services.
We can be reached by calling (617) 287-5690 or emailing counseling.center@umb.edu. If you are interested in counseling, you will first be offered an initial consultation with a clinician to talk about your concerns and interest. We help students identify and access the most appropriate services for particular situations, which may include follow up appointments here at the counseling office. All enrolled UMass Boston students, regardless of insurance, are eligible for the following services at no charge, and we will assess these options further in the initial consultation:
- A consultation, by appointment, to determine treatment needs and options
- Brief and focused individual therapy
- Emergency/crisis intervention
- Assistance with accessing care off-campus
- Outreach events, groups and workshops
- Medication evaluations
- Educational materials
Whether or not you are a current patient at the center, we have options for same day crisis support (by walking during our hours of operation, or calling our 24/7 crisis phone support at 855-634-4135).
Hard of Hearing/Deaf students can utilize the free National Relay Service to connect to Protocall by calling 711. This allows students to use their video chat to connect to an interpreter which then can voice their concerns in a telephone call.
